Heartbreaking images & anguish. I don't know Annie Lennox's story but apprehend. Is that her beloved brother, with whom she shared such joyful memories, miraculously captured on film, who died?

About a year ago I read a stern declaration from one of the current women authors first-named not Penelope but Margaret. I'm thinking it was Drabble. (I've always found Margarets to be especially brisk.)

She had no patience with, as she put it, premature deaths, the deaths of the living while they're still alive.

I'm from a completely, thoroughly estranged family. So many deaths, in advance of the Grim Reaper. Drabble has no patience for that. I'm conflicted about it, but try to be strong. There are reasons for all the estrangements.

I have film footage in my mind of my brother, a year & change younger than me. He's very much alive. But we haven't spoken in years.

I'm not even sure I want to. Things are hard.
